Built to progress safely
The same movement goals. Different demands by age.
A fourth grader should not train agility like a varsity player. Younger players get shorter, simpler movement patterns with more balance and coordination. Older players progress toward sharper deceleration, change-of-direction and reaction work.
Grades 3–5 · FoundationBody control, athletic stance, simple starts/stops, lateral movement and coordination. Low complexity and short work bouts.
Grades 6–8 · BuildBetter braking, sharper footwork, controlled direction changes and introductory reaction work.
Grades 9–12 · PerformMore demanding acceleration/deceleration, multi-direction work, reactive decisions and repeated quality efforts.

Her four-week agility plan
Quality movement comes first. The goal is cleaner positions and better braking—not winning a conditioning test.
Week 4: repeat the first session’s benchmark under the same setup and compare control, balance and clean completions—not just speed.
